My Comments on the New Yorker Obama Cover

I've said my piece about the Barry Blitt cover for this week's New Yorker magazine in this article by Editor & Publisher magazine.

  1. Great quote about the how New Yorker "should stick to what they do well"...

  2. It's not clear what you're actually saying since your quotes are spread over a couple paragraphs.

  3. a lot of blogs and radio shows are trying (and failing), to come up with a cover that would be the same for McCain.

I wonder why all of the unhelpful myths going around are about Obama, and there are none about McCain?

    Very telling.

  5. Anon 9:17 AM.

Republicans are sacred and can get away with doing anything they want, and it's always true when they say it, regardless of how false it is. . .it is true, because they love their country...unlike the rest of us.

Why are there no rumors about McCain? There were....remember, he has an illegitimate black daughter!!! Remember that? There are no rumors about McCain because he's running FOR, and no longer AGAINST the party machine. This makes it VERY CLEAR where these "rumors" (some call them outright lies, ya know) come from -the neocon machine.

Look, it's simple, when you believe in imaginaries friends that speak to you and tell you what to do, it's very easy to blur reality with utter fiction, which is what ideologues do.

Ummmm The New Yorker is hardly Republican.

  7. Let me expound on my previous post. You can try to point to Republican racism against Obama, except there are no prominent Republicans bringing race into the campaign. We do however know that the term Magic Negro was first applied to Obama by L.A. Times columnist, David Ehrenstein. We also know, in the primary, racist white Southern Democrats voted for Hillary instead of Obama.

And I'd like to point out again, The New Yorker is not a conservative magazine.

  9. Yes, Aggie Dude.

And just to make sure everyone knows:
The "illegitimate black daughter" smear came from Karl Rove!

Yeah. And there are, of course, NO ideologues posting here. Just like there was no gambling going at at Rick's.
