    $12,000 death benefit? It's more like $400,000. Plus the member can insure themselves with a private firm if they choose.

    According to several news accounts, the Army offers $12,000.

    Anyone can insure themself. That's not a benefit.

    Well, why not? Thanks to the invasion, nobody in Iraq has any money. And if the US doesn't want to pay, then they shouldn't shoot.
