Cartoon for October 25

Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut unwittingly exposed the Democrats' Big Lie on Iraq: that they need support from Republicans to stop the war. In fact, any senator can place a "hold" on any piece of legislation. They can even do it anonymously if they're afraid of the political ramifications of their action! So, the next time you hear on TV that the Democrats "need" 60 votes in the Senate to override Bush's threatened veto, don't believe it. And write to the network to demand an immediate correction.

  1. sad. the dems are spineless even when they could make a much-less-courageous-and-unconcerted anonymous move. i sometimes wonder if they are just a front group for the republican party. how long may a hold be in effect, by the way?

  2. Awesome--in addition to being a rightful and hilarious skewering of the spineless Democrats in Congress, this cartoon has also given us a new catchphrase in "Caucus time, nutmeg boy!"

  3. Ted, I totally dig the use of WWII resistance imagery in your cartoons. They want WWII and you slap their faces, "En Francais". Brillant. Au Revoir!!!

  4. holy cow, Dodd finally did something -I can't believe im going to say this about the senator- GOOD. Still has a long way to go, especially if he wishes to amend for the past doings of his late father.

  5. Your best cartoon in months or a year. Almost like a full sitcom episode in 4 panels.

And yeah, the weakness is pervasive. Pelosi couldnt even get Murtha in past Hoyer, for God's sake. No Democrat should fear her or Reid. They're entirely toothless lions.
