    This is why you're not awash in dead-tree Pulitzers, Ted:

    The New York Times took five Pulitzers on Monday, including one for breaking the call-girl scandal that destroyed Gov. Eliot Spitzer's political career.

    And the Detroit Free Press won for local reporting for obtaining a trove of sexually explicit text messages that brought down the city's mayor.

    The awards were announced after one of the most depressing years the newspaper industry has ever seen, with layoffs, bankruptcies and closings.

    I've bought a house AND a post Y2k "new" car (my first) in the past year, all on data entry wages (2 income household) a couple of dollars above minimum. Thanks for making me feel like a heel.

    No, I live in America's Most Livable City aka Pittsburgh. I highly recommend that the restless, mobile types (like I used to be) check it out. I used to live in Seattle and S.F. and I think it matches them in beauty and, yes, "livability", in its own way.
