Cartoon for June 23

For the first time since Nixon, pundits are talking about a generation gap between the young and the old. If there's a conflict, it's low intensity.

  1. Oh, Ted. I'm not sure to find the statistic, but young people are far more likely to be killed by older people than people in their own age group. (I.E. Adults kill kids- even teenagers- far more than kids kill kids.)

  4. To my fellow anonymous poster,

Does your statistic include teenagers being ordered to to their deaths by our aging president?

  5. The RRR campaign is just as useless as it was when it was in the early 90s. I make it a point to ask people I know what they should do with spent batteries. No one knows. I remember the lady at the plant telling us to wash out our jars and cans before throwing them away or else they are not recycled.

Saving the planet is going to mean much much more than screwing in a fluorescent light bulb. Cars should just be banned. even the gas sippers are less than 20% efficient.

  7. On the point of florescent bulbs, I want to say that, though I am fairly extreme on what we should do to become more environmentally responsible, florescent lighting is something I am whole-heartedly against mandating. These lights cause vision problems, and the hum they make, I argue, is slowly driving us insane. While they may be more efficient with energy, I think there are other quality of life issues that also should be considered.

  8. No, it doesn't include teenagers killed in Iraq. I also wish I had the direct source to give you...

  9. Ted, you draw Insane McCain well. Here's hoping that you won't have to put him in the Generalissimo's uniform come January.

  10. The bathroom, kitchen, hall and bedroom all have fluorescents. The living room, however, is fitted with a big, fat, 300W incandescent. It makes the photographs look so much better.
