Cartoon Comments on Double Secret Probation

If the low volume of commentary about the cartoons posted here continues through next week, I will likely stop posting them here in the Rallblog. You will, of course, be able to continue reading them in their usual spot in the cartoon section.

  1. Well, I think the comments may be low because most readers are getting the RSS feed, which doesn't easily enable commenting.

  2. Ted,

I think a reason for low comments is none of the cartoons you posted lately are that 'controversial' in nature (or at least, 'controversial' in that a wingnut cannot rest until he spews his vitriol).

If something akin to the Tillman or Widows cartoons were posted, I think the comments section would fill pretty quickly.

For myself, I usually read whatever comments are posted, but if I find nothing particularly noteworthy posted I do not really have anything to add.

It would be sad to see the ability to post comments on your editorial cartoons (or columns for that matter) be abandoned.

Perhaps in the strips themselves you should block out a (very) small banner on the bottom mentioning that those wanting to comment can do so on rall.com (if such a banner would be allowed by your syndicate).

  4. Dear Ted,

I actually commented on one of your cartoons, and you actually published it. That said, I probably would not do it again. No offense to you, you're a great cartoonist, it's just that I've got my own shit to work out, and commenting on cartoons is a little off the beaten path for me. Take your cartoons off, and don't be discouraged, you're still doing a good job. This particular approach just isn't a good one.

    Longtime fan.

  5. I usually pay no heed to the opinions of small citrus fruits, but I will have to temporarily belay that rule to agree with Evil Kumquat.

There are a lot of us lurking without posting, who like reading the comments (even if there are only one or two).

If you feel this causes too much overhead for the quantity and or "value add" to the blog, hey it's your blog. Either way we'll still be here, reading away, our feelings intact...

  6. As long as there are some comments, it seems worth continuing posting the cartoons for comments.

  7. I can't read the cartoons on this blog because they're too small. Thus, no comments.
